Designated Public Safety Contacts

For your safety and to ensure law enforcement activities are unimpeded, the following page is a resource for identifying public safety contacts on Texas A&M University campuses and teaching sites should a law enforcement activity take place on campus. As appropriate and necessary, these individuals will work with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to minimize any impact on regular campus activities.

As a public institution and member of The Texas A&M University System, local, state and federal government law enforcement agencies are permitted to enter public areas at each of our campuses and teaching sites. However, access to nonpublic areas typically requires a search warrant. A public area is an area open to the general public, including outdoor areas, library common areas, student services and administration buildings, academic buildings, dining areas open to the public and other similar unrestricted spaces. Nonpublic areas are those areas where a reasonable expectation of privacy, including residence halls, private offices and restricted-access laboratories.

If you ever have a question about a law enforcement presence on a campus or teaching site, you may contact the designated public safety contact listed below. Similarly, if you are presented with a warrant to access a nonpublic area by a law enforcement officer, please listen to their instructions, comply and immediately notify the designated public safety contact listed below for your respective location. Please note: It is unlawful to impede a law or immigration enforcement activity.
