The view from the plane...
Saying goodbye to civilization!
Pulling away from Lee's Ferry, Arizona.
The view from up on the canyon side, at an Anasazi Indian ruin where they once stored their grain.
Some campsites were more comfortable than others.

The water of Havasu Creek is an emerald green, quite different from the Colorado River. The three boats on the left are wooden dorries, another great way to see the river.
The bridge on the Bright Angel Trail, crossing at the Phantom Ranch.
Loaded and ready to head out!
One of our guides watching a smaller raft passing by.
Watching a raft on the approach to Lava Falls.

Despite the size of the rafts, rapids can be very exciting.

I always wanted to junmp off the cliffs...

Bill's picture
I scratched the cornea of my right eye during this jump. Thankfully, it was on the last day before we got off the river.

Bill's picture
After leaving the river we travelled together to the canyon overlook to re-create a picture Bill took years before.

Recent floods had deposited sand along the bottom of the canyon. It made hiking very easy. Returning a year later, we found that this is not the norm. The ground was covered with large boulders.

The log wedged 100 feet above Kathleen's head (think 'flash flood') made us a little nervous.
